Heather Wertheimer, MA has been practicing and studying Neelakantha Meditation with Paul Muller-Ortega since 2009.  She became an authorized teacher of Neelakantha Meditation as taught by Blue Throat Yoga in 2017.

Heather is a meditation teacher, kirtan artist, singer, and songwriter, who combines her special love of both music and yoga to lead devotional chanting internationally.  Heather brings the richness of her healing background as a kirtan artist, therapist, meditator and yoga teacher into her life work.  With a rare ability to sing directly from the heart, she infuses sacred chanting with a powerful sense of peace and depth.  Heather tours internationally with her husband Benjy in the duo Shantala and has appeared onstage with Deva Premal & Miten, Krishna Das, and Jai Uttal.  Heather’s debut CD with Shantala, Church of Sky, was named by New Age Retailer as one of the top ten albums of the year.

Heather received her Master’s degree in Psychology, with a focus on Yoga and Mind/Body Health, from Sonoma State University in 2002.  She worked as a therapist in Portland, OR, for 20 years and as a yoga teacher for 10 years.
